Wandering through the countryside, he sees a strangely beautiful woman (Sandra Knight) who gives him drink but then quickly evades him and any questions he has about how to return to his army. Lost he follows her from land to sea. Eventually he finds that she appears to be a captor in a castle. The castle is owned and occupied by Baron Victor Frederick Von Leppe (Boris Karloff) who first turns the young soldier away, saying there is no woman in his castle. Andre is insistent when he sees the woman in a window and fears she may be held captive by the Baron.
